   I get this error with latest version installed today. I have used gmail and 1and1 smtp servers which are accurate.

   Based on the error message above "Network is unreachable", your hosting seems to block connection to smtp.gmail.com using port 465.
   I suggest to contact your hosting tech support and confirm wether they allow connection to Google server using port 465 or not.
