Columns and Inline broken with widths <500px?

Hope someone can help with this.
I'm embedding my form into a Wordpress page via javascript and have done so successfully in the past.
This time around with the new update, I'm unable to get my checkboxes/multiple choice options inline. Instead, no matter what I do, the choices present themselves as a single column and with a border surrounding it. The radio buttons, too, look to be different, being all blue when selected instead of the single black point in the center.
So I think what's happening is since I'm embedding the form into a page that has a 480px width, that the form is assuming the screen then is a mobile device and acting as such. I tried to get two different fields on two columns by employing the css code column_2 for those fields. My form now simply ignores it and the fields remain on their own lines.
Does this make sense? Is there a fix around this?
Thanks, gina

Hi Gina... can you let me know the URL to the page where you embed the form please?
I'll check it.You can send it via email if you don't want to post it here.
