A Cautionary Tale!

Thanks to Appnitro Support (Yuniar) and my server host I have avoided a near catastrophe!

A helpful collaegue in the office decide to clean up the phpMyAdmin of redundant tables and databases.............and yes by accident dropped the MachForm DB at the same time that was running 8 currently active forms for clients. luckily for me after some guidance by Appnitro support I contacted my server host to see if they had a backup of my DB somewhere, they said "oh no problem, we back-up everyones DB's every night just in case of things like this"
And now everything is back to normal after a near financial disaster! I have since found out that not all hosting companies are this service minded. I have just learn't how to make my own back-ups with the phpMyAdmin panel for the future.

My advice is, if you don't know how to back-up your own DB do it now and........BACK UP YOUR DATABASES!!

You are lucky that your hosting backups the database indeed. Not all hosting companies provide this service.

If you want to bring it to the next level, you might want to consider using Linode (http://www.linode.com/backups/)
They will backup the entire system, not just the database.

    Thanks for the tip Yuniar.

Here is a real simple tutorial for those that want to do it themselves, it's for backing up and restoring.
