On a new install I'm getting logged out quickly and often. The "remember me" checkbox doesn't seem to have any effect. Is this something controlled by your software - a setting somewhere I can change?

Most likely the PHP session timeout on your server is being set too short. You can change this by editing the php.ini file.
Not all hosting company allowed that though. In this case you might want to contact your hosting tech support for further assistance.MachForm Founder

I can confirm that I have been seeing the same problem as described. This is an intermittent problem that I have experienced. Sometimes I can work in the admin for an hour without any problems, other times the session will expire in minutes.
It appears to happen when either saving a theme, form or email settings.
